Peacock Butterflies

A real contrast between the beautiful colours on one side and the near black underside as seen with the wings folded back. The eyespots act as a deterrent to predators and the underside renders the butterfly near invisible. A surprisingly large butterfly. Photographed in Belvoir Forest, Belfast.
